People recognize familiar faces in the crowd – friends, family and celebrities. The Polish National Police has now taken advantage on this capability, and created a memory game “Most wanted” based on criminal faces. The game is a very traditional memory game – the player finds two identical mugshots and connects them – and the criminal ends up behind bars. The game offers also some variation / extra challenge to its players with levels where the criminal face has to be recognized from “sketches” (which actually are just photoshopped versions of the original mugshots).
The idea is that people would grow to know these faces and recognize them also in real life. The mobile app also acts as a databank where people can check the deeds the criminals are wanted for. If one spots a criminal for example in a bus, they can now immediately contact the police and give them the information of the crooks whereabouts.
